Configuring nSign Desktop to use Proxy and configure NTLM Authentication

[Guide] Configuring nSign Desktop to use Proxy and configure NTLM Authentication (if required)

This guide is meant for the following user groups,

a) Users who utilizes work-issued laptop/Network which does not allow internet access and will require a forward proxy to reach the internet
b) If NTLM Authentication is required to use the forward proxy


Pre-requsites:
nSign desktop must be above version 3.3.7.


Configuration to enable the use on proxy for nSign Desktop
1. Close the nSign Desktop application if it is currently running and navigate to the nSign application folder (By default, it is installed onto C:\Program Files\Netrust\nSign)


2. Double click on the config folder


3. Open up the config.properties using your preferred text editor


4. Under the proxy settings portion, please edit the following fields:
a) net.netrust.nsign.desktop.proxy.enableproxy=[true/false] 

If proxy is to be used for the internet connection, net.netrust.nsign.desktop.proxy.enableproxy=true
Otherwise, net.netrust.nsign.desktop.proxy.enableproxy=false
b) net.netrust.nsign.desktop.proxy.address=[IP address/hostname of the proxy server]
c) net.netrust.nsign.desktop.proxy.port=[Port that the forward proxy is listening on]
Please do check in with your company IT team if you are not sure of the IP address or Port



5. Save the file and close the text editor

6. Start nSign Desktop and the settings will be in effect


NTLM Authentication configuration for nSign Desktop
Due to security concerns, we do not save a copy of the credentials used for NTLM Authentication. Therefore, there will be a need to apply the NTLM settings every time you close and start up nSign Desktop again. 
Note: You will not be able to see the Proxy Authentication setting tab if useProxy is set to false in the settings! Please do set them to true if you intend to use proxy with NTLM Authentication! 
1. Plug out/remove any token that is connected to the computer and run the nSign Desktop application


2. Click on Setup and then Proxy Authentication Setting

3. Click on NTLM Auth radio button and input the username and password credentials along with the domain required for NTLM Authentication
Please do check in with your company IT team if you are not sure of the username/password/domain field


4. Click on the Ok button after you input the corresponding username/password/domain field


5. Plug in your token and login normally. The settings will be reflected and connection to the proxy will use the credentials supplied.
